The grip of the ego

Pretty much almost everybody has a dark side that they struggle with sometimes. Our dark side can have a very tight grip on us.. Especially on people who suffer from an addiction. Our dark side can want things like loveless sex, fast food, druqs, alcohol, gambling and so on. This grip that our dark side can have on us is linked to our emotional pain body. We experience this like a feeling of "grief" or loss. As long as we keep feeding it and trying to fight it we only make it stronger. The key is to be unattached from it and to stop feeding it by focussing your mind on something more constructive.

You can only be unattached from it by observing it from a state of unconditional love. Only love can outwit the devil! Love is already whole, perfect and eternal bliss and joy. So when you are in a state of unconditional love you automatically stop identifying yourself with the ego and the emotional pain body.

Of course we have to learn to make a distinction between what is good and what is bad for us. Sometimes we have to experience something dark so that we have a better understanding of what we want and of what we don't want. This doesn't necessarily mean that other people have to be involved in that. But everybody learns in different ways and has their own path and purpose in life. So if other people do get involved, then that only means that they have to learn from that experience also. We all attract things in life we must learn from. As long as we don't "get it" things keep coming back to us until we do "get it". This means you can feel imprisoned as long as you are searching and struggling inside. If this is the case for you, then I can only advice you to accept that you still have to learn, grow and heal and that this process needs time. Please realize that you will make it to your destination (heaven) eventually. The next time you feel destructive urges coming up you can choose to stop feeding them and simply focus on something more positive. Our mind can play tricks on us by trying to solve problems that don't even exist. The same goes for trying to explain or fight destructive urges with your mind. This will only feed them and it is always a losing battle. What you focus on expands.. If you continue to feed it then it will manifest. As long as you can't make a distinction between what is good and bad and as long as you don't love yourself, then there will be many battles ahead. Only when you can "see" things for what they truly are and only when you love yourself, can you truly outwit the devil. However, you can always choose to focus on the positive instead of the negative when you want to. You can also always choose to be alert of the traps that your dark side brings to the surface. As your perception broadens you will learn to outwit the devil through compassion.
